David Brian Moon, 62, passed away on April 24, 2024, following a series of strokes. David was the fifth of seven children born to the late Eldon Moon and Pauline Moon. David was born with polio and cerebral palsy but despite the additional challenges life dealt him, he kept up with his active gaggle of siblings pretty well and managed to make plenty of mischief of his own. In the 1970's, he dressed up as Peter Pan and rode his tricycle in the Ankeny Summerfest parade with his little sister Lori dressed up as Tinker Bell, riding in the basket. David was a proud member of the Iowa School for the Deaf, Class of 1980, having attended there with his sister, April. He resided thereafter in the Des Moines area. If there was a sports game on TV, David was likely to be watching it. He was a devout sports fan, particularly zealous about his Hawkeyes, his Yankees, and his Cowboys. David was predeceased by his father, Eldon Moon. The surviving family includes mother Pauline Moon; siblings Ginger Battani (Jerry), Ron (Mary) Moon, Richard Moon, A. Jane Jacobson (Jim), April Miksell (Don), and Lori Moon. He also leaves behind over a dozen nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to the family in the care of Jane Jacobson via Venmo @Jane-Jacobson-6 as private celebrations of life are still pending. As a final gift, his bodily remains have been donated to science, to advance medical care.
