Not all states are eligible.
Your information is never shared and is kept confidential with restricted access.
Please note that if the patient has ever been diagnosed with Hepatitis B or C, HIV/AIDS, or Tuberculosis — or has been exposed to or diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 28 days, unfortunately we will be unable to match the donor with a donation program.

Donation benefits include no-cost cremation

  • Our families find comfort in knowing the gift will support medical research, education, and training around the globe.
  • No costs associated with transportation, filing of the death certificate and permits, cremation, or the return of cremated remains (should you wish to receive them).
  • No upper age limit, and most people meet the criteria for donation with Science Care, including those with cancer, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and other chronic conditions.
  • An autopsy does not exclude donation.
  • Organ donation for lifesaving measures will not impact acceptance.
  • Science Care will assist the family through the medical screening and with the electronic consent process.

How does it work?

  • A loved one, power of attorney, or healthcare provider may initiate the process by filling out the form on this page. Science Care will then contact you to complete the medical screening.
  • Donation is a very time-sensitive process. We would need to be contacted as soon as possible, but typically can assist up to 5 days after the passing.
  • Certain conditions (such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B or C, or COVID-19 symptoms, exposure, or diagnosis) will prevent acceptance into the Science Care program.
  • Upon acceptance, Science Care will coordinate any required paperwork, obtain any pending authorizations or death certificate information, and arrange transport to pick up the donor.
  • Specimens are procured for medical research, surgical training, and education programs.
  • Any tissue not recovered for research and education is cremated and returned typically in 3-5 weeks to the designated recipient.
  • Legacy Letter: In the month following the donation, Science Care emails a letter to the donation consenter, outlining current research programs at the time of donation.
  • Memory in Nature: As a celebration of life, a tree sapling is planted in honor of each donor.

Change the future of medicine and help generations to come
