Whitney Weimer, Science Care’s Vice President of Client Services, was born and raised in Nebraska. Early on in her life, she became familiar with the ins and outs of medical treatment when she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia.
Her parents were quick to find support, including a body cast, ensuring she sat in certain positions and many meetings with doctors for advice and guidance. By the age of 9, Whitney had undergone two major hip surgeries to correct the dysplasia. Post surgeries, she was eager to return to her normal childhood activities on the soccer field and playing with her friends.
“I remember developing a very specific life goal at that point in my life,” Whitney said. “Being in and out of orthopedic surgeons’ offices, I decided I wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon when I grew up. I was in awe of what they could do and how they could impact so many children with crippling conditions.”
At the age of 7, Whitney’s mother battled breast cancer for the first time, followed by a recurrence 4 years later.
“My life was forever changed for the good by the medical world,” Whitney said. “I have a great working hip to this day and a mom who beat cancer twice because of the amazing technology that we have today, and her own incredible perseverance.”
Whitney attended the University of Northern Colorado where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. After college, ready to jump into her career, Whitney started at Science Care as a Medical Event Steward. Over the following 13 years, she has held many positions assisting clients with events, overseeing medical research, education, training labs and much more.
“My life was forever changed for the good by the medical world."
Over the years, there have been many experiences that shaped Whitney’s tenure with Science Care.
“It’s been incredible to see the impact of our donors,” Whitney said. “I have loved watching medical companies use our services to test out their prototypes for new medical devices over and over again, tweaking it each time to get it just right, so it could be used to help live patients or just watching surgeons gain confidence in their techniques.”
When she’s not supporting Science Care’s Events and Order Management teams, you can find her spending valuable time with her college sweetheart husband and three little girls.
