Tribute

There are people who walk through life quietly, leaving behind a trail of kindness, compassion, and light. My husband, Ajaypal Singh Nanda, who passed away in Eastvale, CA, on July 23rd, 2025, with PSP, a rare neurodegenerative disease, was one of those rare souls. Ajaypal Singh Nanda was many things to many people. To us, he was a loving father and husband who cared for his family in every sphere of his life. Sukhmani, Ajay’s daughter, expressed her love for him in this heartfelt message: “He was the kind of father who showed up in every way that mattered. One of my favorite memories from when I was little: every morning, he’d carry me out of bed, place me on the couch, make breakfast for me and my brother, braid my hair (yes, he knew how to braid), and take us to school. When we were young, he even left his job because he didn’t want us to be in daycare. That’s the kind of father he was – he gave up everything so we could have everything. He raised me to be strong, resilient, and compassionate, and I always carry that with me. Beyond that, he was also a skilled pilot, brilliant chef, and a proud business owner. We knew him for his caring soul, easygoing attitude, and vibrant energy. Our memories with him range from watching cricket games together, hiking in many different parks, and sometimes just being in each other’s company. He was an ideal life partner who always supported me and never held me back. He had a heart that saw people—not just their needs, but their hopes, their fears, and their humanity. Whether it was a neighbor in distress, a colleague facing hardship, or a stranger needing a moment of grace, he was there. Not because he had to be, but because helping others was simply who he was. His kindness wasn’t loud; it was steady. It showed up in the way he listened, in the way he gave without expecting anything in return, and in the way he made people feel seen and valued. He believed that even the smallest act of care could ripple outward and change someone’s day, even their life. And it did. I’ve lived through those stories he built throughout 30 years of our togetherness, some he knew well, others he barely met. Each one is a testament to the quiet power of a generous spirit. He was the best father, best husband, best uncle, best brother, and best friend in the world you could ever ask for. Our memories with him are filled with simple joys and togetherness. His legacy of strength and compassion lives on in his family. We miss him more than words will ever explain, but know that he will always be part of us.
