Alexander George Meyer, at age 70, passed away on May 16, 2023, at Accent Hospice Care in Largo, FL. He was born March 12, 1953, in Regensburg Germany to George T. Meyer and Olga B. Meyer, both now deceased. Alex grew up in Prince George’s County Maryland. Alex moved to Sun City Center, Florida in 2022 from his home in Crownsville, Maryland, where he had lived since 1996. He graduated from The Diesel Institute of America and became a union member driving for Preston Trucking, Inc., Roadway Trucking, and Old Dominion Freight Line. Later he sold rock-n-roll collectibles (mainly Frank Zappa and related) via Goldmine magazine and opened an eBay store “Sir Richard Pump a Loaf’s Bakery”. Alex also enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening in Crownsville. He took numerous trips to Los Angeles and San Francisco, California to search for rock-n-roll collectibles. In addition to his in-depth knowledge of Frank Zappa and related collectibles, he had worldwide contacts and customers in the rock-n-roll collectible genres. Some traveled from Finland and Germany to interview him for “T Mershi Duween Frank Zappa Fanzine” and to view his vast collection. He was invited to the Zappanale Festival in Germany numerous times and many Zappa objects obtained from Alex’s collection are in a museum there. “Information is not knowledge. Alex is survived by his wife, Julia A. Rice of Sun City Center, Florida, his sister Nina Carleton and her daughter Anna of Silver Spring, Maryland, he was preceded in death by his sister Anna Meyer of Oxon Hill, Maryland.
