Betty Jean Chambers
Tribute
At approximately 8 p.m. on February 16, Betty Jean Chambers passed from this world onto the next. She was 88 years young. Admitted to Advent Health on Tuesday after a fall in her cottage, Betty remained under medical care until her death. Members of the family were in attendance at her passing as she slipped peacefully away. Betty was the middle of three daughters born to Evelyn June (Frantz) and Robert Henry Morrow on the 17th of December, 1935, in Kankakee, Illinois. She married Robert Chambers in Kankakee in 1956 and blessed him with two daughters, Valrie and Wendy. They remained happily married until his passing in 1988. While married to Robert, Betty enjoyed politics, as her husband was the Deputy Mayor of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, playing cards, bowling, and traveling. She also was interested in real estate, being a landlady of several apartment buildings in the Pittsburgh area. Betty is survived by her daughters Valrie Chambers with her fiancé James Barrett, and Wendy (Chambers) with her husband Steven Kahler. Grandchildren Cassandra (Whitehead) with husband Stephen Amell, Clayton Whitehead with wife Sarah (Slate), and A1C Raleigh Kahler, along with three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her feathered companion Romeo, the parrot. Betty was predeceased by both of her parents, her two sisters, her loving husband, and a grandchild. In lieu of a timely funeral, the family is in the process of planning a Celebration of Life to be scheduled yet this year.
