Tribute

Claire Blythe Van Meter, a devoted wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on August 5, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on December 15, 1929, in Dwight, KS, and her journey was one marked by love, compassion, and a deep commitment to serving her community. After a fulfilling career as an Executive Assistant with the Boulder Valley School District, Claire chose to retire to cherish life’s precious moments with her beloved husband and family. She was united in love and matrimony with her soulmate, Leslie Ray Van Meter, who preceded her in death. Their unwavering love was an inspiration to all who knew them. Throughout her life, Claire was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Louisville, where she found spiritual nourishment and a sense of community for over 60 years. Together with her husband, Claire co-founded the Louisville Community Food Bank, a testament to their shared passion for addressing food insecurity in their community. The legacy of the food bank continues to uplift and support those in need to this day. Claire's kindness knew no bounds, and she generously shared her time and love with those around her. Whether it was lending a listening ear, offering a helping hand, or simply spreading joy, Claire's actions exemplified the true spirit of compassion and humanity. Her memory will forever be treasured by her family, friends, and the community she touched with her boundless love and unwavering devotion. In honoring Claire's memory, let us remember her for the joy she brought into our lives and the kindness she shared with the world. May her legacy inspire us all to carry on her spirit of giving back and making a positive difference in the lives of others. She is survived by her son, Michael of Dallas, TX, Janice of Boulder, CO, her grandson Bradly of Fort Worth, TX, her sister Charlotte of Roselle, IL and countless nieces and nephews. Rest in eternal peace, Claire. Your light will continue to shine bright in our hearts forever.
