Tribute

We remember Dan as a son, brother, extended family man, and kind friend, a father figure and hero to a group of kids, not your own, but you certainly thought of them that way. Dan had a passion for the martial arts that, with dedication and discipline, went on to become a blackbelt in Japanese sword (Kendo) and karate in his 30s. Never boastful or proud, as is the Samarai way. Dan had a great memory and could recall lyrics and movie lines, and American history with ease. If you ever needed to know about something you couldn't remember or recall, he was the guy to call upon. Dan spent a lot of his adult life with Connie and her family, kids, grandkids, and sisters. He was accepted as a member, and we know he left this world feeling loved and cared for. Dan loved the simple things: a nice dinner made with love by Cathy, a little time each day watching Gus and Louie playing and making him laugh, and a phone call from a member of his family or friends. The last conversation with him, 1 day before, was going out for lunch to one of our old favorite places that week, and he was looking forward to that. He gave me a big, heartfelt hug on Sunday, April 6th, when I saw him, and I know he felt positive about life. Dan passed away on April 11th, 2025, surrounded by people who he loved and who loved him. he waited. We know how special he was, and there will never be another like him in our lives. RIP, Dan, we love you.
