David Forstate left us peacefully on Monday Morning after a courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. David had deep roots in Pennsylvania, born in Punxsutawney and educated at The Kiski School. He graduated from GW with his degree in Fine Arts and a master's degree from Ohio University. Dave became a legendary Photojournalist, Emmy-winning storyteller, and Golden Circle winner for 50 years in the business. Though his professional accomplishments were many, he was proudest of his Family. His parents were Sidney and Sylvia (Sunny) Forstate. He is preceded in death by his only brother, Dr. William Forstate. Dave is survived by Roselyn, his sister-in-law, nephew Benjamin, and niece Sylvia Forstate. David is survived by his loving wife Judy with whom he shared an unwavering partnership. His Children were a Constant source of pride. Jessica Forstate Fernandes, her husband Robert, and son Vincent Fernandes. Kaitlyne Forstate Roth and her husband, Adam Roth, and their girls, Karalyn, Sunny, and Sloane. And Eric Forstate, the son that best reflects his father. To his 4 grandchildren, "Poppop" was a source of endless warmth, humor, mischief, wisdom, and unconditional love. David Forstate spent his life capturing the beauty and humanity of the world through a camera lens. Those who knew him best will remember his kindness, loyalty, and love. Though his screen has gone quiet, his story and those he helped tell will live on in our hearts. Rest in Peace.
