Tribute

David Robert Hennessey, age 66 of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday December 19th, 2022, in home hospice after a long illness. Born on April 22, 1956, he was the son of late Robert Hennessey and Margaret Hennessey. David graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in 1974 and joined the Navy before an honorable discharge in 1977. In 1984, David married Rita (Montgomery) Hennessey in Alexandria, Virginia. David and Rita went on to have two sons, Jon C. Hennessey (36), and Michael J. Hennessey (33). David played and excelled in many sports, especially baseball. He was an avid fan of both the Phillies and the Philadelphia Big 5 college basketball teams. Spending time playing with, coaching for, and cheering on his two sons were some of his greatest passions. David also enjoyed his grand dogs, playing horseshoes, reading, writing and getting together with his many friends. David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rita Hennessey, son Jon Hennessey, son Michael Hennessey and daughter-in-law Lisa Hennessey, brother Mark Hennessey and sister-in-law Patty Hennessey, brother Neil Hennessey, sister Robin Logue and brother-in-law Tom Logue, and many nieces and nephews.
