Dear Dad - This isn't goodbye, just see you later. I'll tuck the good memories of you in my heart: fishing at Onion reservoir, trips to Six Flags, camping and water skiing at Lahontan, the noisy and very boisterous arguments you had with my uncles at Christmas, family reunions, sitting on your knee driving your Subaru, skiing on Slide Mountain, and playing with you in our back yard pool. Thank you for teaching me to have fun in this life... I might have been too serious otherwise. I'm glad you're free of the body that was failing you and no longer suffering. I'm grateful you got to leave this world surrounded by people who loved and cared for you. I pray you're at peace now and fully healed in mind, body, and spirit with Jesus and Grandma Pat. With love, your daughter - Jill. David Wesley McDonald left us on Friday, March 20, 2026, to receive his eternal reward from his heavenly Father. Born on January 9, 1943, in Reno, Nevada to Frank and Pat (Zerelda Caldwell) McDonald, he grew up in Winnemucca and later moved back to Reno, where he married Judy Settergren and together, they had two children, Jill (Ray Litzinger) and Jason (Shawna). David was in sales for most of his career and was counted on to be the life of a party and friend to all he met. He enjoyed living in Ft. Mojave, Arizona, for the greatest part of his adult life and worked for Hallcon, providing transportation and crew shuttle services to the train crews operating in Arizona. David at all times was ready to share a story and leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable memories (some of which we’d like to forget), but even so, his quirky sense of humor will be missed by his siblings, Delphi (son, Bret), Paul (June), Faye (Fred), Peter (Renee), Kevin (Cindy), Mary, Marlene, his children, Jill and Jason, and countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. For the last days of his life, he lived with his sister, Faye, and brother-in-law Fred, in Tampa, Florida, passing peacefully in his sleep. Preceding him were his parents, his brother Patrick, sister Deanna, grandson, Skyler, nephews, Michael, Joshua, Benjamin, Taylor, Matthew, and niece Amanda. At his request, his body has been donated to Science Care, with a memorial service to be held on April 14, 2026, in Tampa, with burial in Winnemucca Cemetery at a date to be set in May, 2026. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the soul of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
