Tribute

Dolores Dellacorte Laird, 89, went home to Jesus on June 6th, 2026 She passed peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida. Dolores was born in Astoria, NY on July 16, 1936 to Dominica and Tobias Nicastro She spent a great deal of her life in New York with her husband John “Jack” Dellacorte and she was a proud mother to Kim Dellacorte Russo and John Dellacorte. Dolores went on to graduate from Stony Brook University in 1981 where she then worked at the Stony Brook University Hospital from 1981 to 1998. Dolores retired to The Villages with her husband Robert “Bob” Laird in 1999. She and Bob enjoyed an active "Villages Lifestyle” surrounded by many friends and close neighbors, especially loving the Florida sunshine and her time at the country club pools. In 2005, Dolores and Bob welcomed a Bichon Frieze puppy, Nikki, into their lives. Aside from Kim and John, Nikki was the love of Dolores’s life. In 2020 after Miss Nikki passed, Dolores rescued Sophie, a Havanese puppy, and she quickly became another apple of her eye. Dolores was a cornerstone in her community and a devout member of the Catholic church. Her family and friends were always blessed by any time spent with Dolores, the sentiment “a life that touches others goes on forever,” is true - Dolores’s kindness and love will live on through all she met. Dolores was preceded in death by Dominica and Tobias Nicastro, John “Jack” Dellacorte (2019), and Robert “Bob” Laird (2020). She is survived by her children Kim Dellacorte Russo and John Dellacorte, along with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Dolores had a way of making friends turn into family, a testament to the love of God that she embodied, and proof of her legacy. Her family, friends, and community will miss her dearly. As a breast cancer survivor, Dolores’s family requests that in lieu of flowers donations to the Susan G. Korman Breast Cancer Foundation would be made in her memory. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
