Tribute
George Kriton Demeris Sr. of Sharon, Massachusetts, passed on from this world on the morning of Monday, April 3rd, 2023 comfortably in his home of 34 years. He is survived by his wife, Kristen Demeris; three children, Tanya Demeris, George Demeris Jr. and his wife Armanda Demeris, and Kristopher Demeris; two grandchildren, Giada and Leonidas Demeris; his niece, Ellen Murphy; his nephew, Philip Demeris; his mother-in-law Marjorie Wood, two sisters-in-law, Beth Scarlett and her son David, and Sue Ann Wood. He was predeceased by his parents, Lazarus and Erasmia Demeris, and his brother, Xenophon. George was born in Athens, Greece in 1948. He joined the Hellenic Air Force after completing an associate's degree in mechanical engineering, where he served his country working on F-104 Starfighter jet engines. Always chasing a rush of speed, after being honorably discharged from the Hellenic Air Force he immigrated to the United States and raced cars semi-professionally for a number of years while owning a gas station and mechanic shop. At the age of 41, when most men remain comfortable in their careers, George decided to follow in his father's profession and become a law enforcement officer, becoming a Sherriff’s Deputy for the Norfolk County Sherriff’s Office and Foxborough Police Department, which he did until retiring at age 65. He used the rest of his time on this Earth to be with his family until his passing. A celebration of life will be held at the La Fayette House on April 22nd, from 4 pm to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in his name to the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.
