Tribute

I sadly lost my beloved husband, soul companion, and love of my life GolamReza DelAfkaran, most commonly known as Reza, on March 10, 2023. Reza was born on May 15, 1931, in Iran. In his entire life, he believed in, and practiced “Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds.” He studied Cartography and Photogrammetry and received his degree in this specialty from I.T.C. in the Netherlands. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and was one of the pioneers in implementing the science of photogrammetry in mapping Iran’s vast plateau. Reza was an avid sportsman and in his younger years was engaged in Bodybuilding, Swimming, Bicycling, Valley Ball, Table Tennis, and Mountain Climbing. He had a creative spirit also and had hands in Painting, Calligraphy, and Cooking. As a young man his Black and White Drawings were breathtaking. From an early age, his dream was to be a medical doctor. He had extensive studies about medical science on his own and had excellent knowledge about the human body. At a young age, he always wanted to donate his body for education or save lives. He always had a large network of friends and loved socializing and spending time with them. After his retirement Reza and I migrated to the U.S. in 2010 and established a new life in Alpharetta, GA. Reza is survived by his two sons, Arash, who lives in California, and, Maziar, who currently resides, in London. He was a grandfather to 3 girls. He will be dearly missed. Akram Fatemi
