Humberto Zamores
Tribute
Born on March 13, 1950, in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, to Mexican immigrant parents, Pedro and Maria Cabello Zamores, Humberto Antonio Cabello Zamores, the youngest of six children, known to many as “El Cachanilla,” lived a vibrant, fun-loving, yet complicated life. From his early work in the fields in Salinas, California, and Imperial County, to managing his own parking lot in Downtown LA, where he met various celebrities and other not-so-likable individuals, to owning his own Radiator business in El Centro, CA, Sun Valley Radiators, our father “Papa,” taught us fun lessons about life. He taught us that our journey in this world did not have to be boring; we should laugh often and have fun wherever we worked, lived, and the people we encountered. He often told jokes, served the public with his contagious smile, and was dedicated to his work, even if he encountered tricky situations. Of course, sometimes it was hard to decipher truth from fiction when we were around him. He lived a complex life, often escaping from one place to another, always trying to find a better life for the family. Although we did not always follow, it was nice to see him return. He was devoted to his Mexican heritage and loved living in the great United States of America. Always thankful for the hope and benefits it gave him and his family. He fought Parkinson's for the last ten years of his life. Eventually, the disease took his last breath. Four years ago, he asked that his body be donated to Parkinson's research. At the time, we were not pleased with his decision but knew we had to respect his wishes. Today, we are thankful that we supported his choice. He leaves his legacy with us to continue serving others to the end, even if it means giving our person to give hope to others. Humberto leaves behind his partner of 55 years, Rosalina Orozco Delgado, and several children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and three great-grandsons. We love you and always will, “Jefe.” Sending deep gratitude to Science Care.
