Jack “Alan” Banks, age 78, passed away peacefully at home in Palisade, Colorado on July 26, 2026 after a 7 year battle with cardiac disease. He was surrounded in love by his wife and his children. He was born on October 2, 1947 in Denver, Colorado Alan served in the Army as a Sergeant in the Signal Corp for two years in Germany. He built a 35-year career as a skilled machinist and owned his own shop for over a decade. He led by example with impeccable work ethic, genuine pride in his craft, integrity, and honesty. Alan married his high school sweetheart, Debbie, and in their 59 years of marriage, he never once missed a good morning or good night kiss and "I love you". He is survived by his wife, his children Scott, Lisa and Dawn, his grandchildren Jesse, Jenna, Dylan and Jocie, his great grandson Finn and his sisters Sandy and Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Dorothy and his sister Jackie. Alan leaves behind a legacy his family will carry forward. He exuded a quiet strength in all things and was always a champion for others. He didn’t have to be loud or intrusive. He just stood beside those he loved and exuded his absolute confidence in them so forcefully that it enveloped all of us. He was truly a selfless man, placing priority in the joy of others. Everyone who has ever spent any time with Alan would describe him as kind, gentle, caring, and giving. This selflessness carries on even in death in the gift of donation. We will miss his amazing smile and his laugh. We will miss his immense joy at simply watching others be happy. We will miss everything about his subtle, yet undeniable presence in our lives. We vow to move forward with so much love in all things in his memory. We will honor him by simply trying to be better people for ourselves and others just as he has always been.
