James Fred Mayo, 82 passed away on 5/1/2024 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jim was born in Yuma, Co. On 11/21/41 to Doris Irene and James Fred Mayo. As the eldest of the Mayo boys, he was known for his leadership and athleticism in a variety of sports while attending Harrison High School in Co Springs. Jim attended CU Boulder before moving on to other adventures such as a stint in Greenland. He went on to own his own lawn sprinkler company. Jim was an avid bowler for many years, belonging to multiple USBC bowling teams and traveling the country for tournaments where he enjoyed putting to use his photography skills on the scenic backdrops of those roadtrips. He would then create masterpieces using his construction skills to make beautiful frames for those photos. He also created and designed carving and wood furniture for family and friends. Jim’s Big personality will be greatly missed by family and friends. His last act was to donate his body to science to further the education of those in the medical field. All are invited to join us to celebrate his memory on May 18, 2024, at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs at noon. Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosalie G. Mayo; as well as his 3 children: son, Miguel Mayo of CO, daughter Laura Mayo-Rodriguez (Bill) of NM, daughter Heather Seibert (Alex) of CO, brother David L Mayo (Talitha) of CA and 4 grandchildren Phelan Seibert, Gavin Seibert, Isabel Rodriguez and Joaquin Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Lonnie Mayo and Kenneth R Mayo.
