Tribute

James Merle “Jim” Tetrick of Sandwich, Illinois, entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. His faithful wife of 61 years, Carolyn Jo (Green) Tetrick, and his children Julia (Tetrick) Brownfield, Douglas Tetrick, and Stephen Tetrick surrounded him on his journey to heaven. Jim was born on February 18, 1944, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Maurice and Lora (Casebolt) Tetrick. Jim grew up in Casey, Illinois, graduating from Casey High School in 1962. He married Carolyn Jo Green later that year. Upon graduation from Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1965, the family moved to Sandwich, Illinois, where Jim taught and coached at Sandwich Junior High School and Sandwich High School. In 1978 Jim transitioned to building homes and began Tetrick Construction, building 200-plus homes in the area. Jim also coached basketball and taught mathematics at Somonauk Baptist Schools. James was a committed Christian man and frequently shared his faith in Jesus Christ. Since the late 1960s, he has been a member of Somonauk Baptist Church, where he ministered in the youth group, served as a deacon, and as a Sunday School teacher. The family is planning a memorial service in Casey, Illinois, at a later time. Psalm 116:15 - “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”

James is survived by his wife Carolyn, children Julia, Douglas, and Stephen, sister Janice (Tetrick) Stewart, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
