Tribute

Carolyn Jeannette Saunders Lucas; 1/22/1935 - 2/27/2023; Jeannette was born in the farmhouse she grew up in, on a tobacco farm in Wake Co., NC. She learned at an early age playing school with her dolls that she wanted to be a teacher. Although she was offered a job with NSA to be an analyst, she chose to teach to make it easier to raise her two daughters, Denise and Karen. Crowned Miss Fuquay-Varina in 1953, her soulmate for over 65 years, Joe, always called her his beauty queen. After a cross-country road trip, she earned the nickname, The Sarge, for keeping us in line. She loved to play bridge and golf, and you rarely saw her without a crossword puzzle (or 10) close at hand. We love you, mom, grandma, may you rest in peace with dad.
