Tribute

Jeffrey Lynn Birkeland, 62, passed away on November 24, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by the love of his family, following a courageous 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Jeff was born on September 20, 1963, in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, to David and Jeannie Birkeland. The oldest of six brothers and one sister, he grew up in Utah and later in Tennessee, where he developed the strong sense of responsibility, kindness, and warmth that would define his life. After graduating from high school, Jeff served a mission in Mexico City, Mexico, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His time there shaped him deeply. He cherished the Spanish language and continued to use it throughout his life—whether at work, at church, or simply greeting people with joy in their native tongue. Jeff graduated from Brigham Young University in 1988 with a degree in Political Science. On December 19, 1987, he married the love of his life, Dawn, in the Atlanta Temple. Together, they built a beautiful family of six children, each of whom he loved with his whole heart. After college, Jeff and Dawn returned to Tennessee, where he began his career in the hazardous waste disposal industry, starting in customer service and eventually moving into sales. His career later took the family to Florida, and in his final year,s he found a fulfilling role in environmental safety and health with Lockheed Martin. Jeff loved his family, the Lord, and people in general. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went. He also loved a good dad joke—always ready with a quick laugh that lightened the moment. Whether chatting with a stranger in line or connecting with someone who needed a kind word, Jeff’s warmth and sincerity touched countless lives. Jeff’s presence, humor, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
