Tribute

Joann was loved deeply by all her family and never met a stranger. She was born in Gardar, North Dakota in September 1933, and passed away peacefully in September 2023, just shy of her 90th birthday. She spent her younger years on the family farm in North Dakota until the family moved to Goodyear, Arizona in 1947. She attended Litchfield High School and graduated in 1951. Soon after graduation, she started her banking career with First National Bank of Goodyear. Although she took a short hiatus to be at home with her young children, she continued with a successful career in banking until her retirement in 1995. After retirement, she hit the road with her husband, Clarence, and traveled the United States, including spending time in Hawaii – a place they both treasured. Joann is survived by her daughter Catherine Gleason (Jim), son John Mure (Maureen), daughter Patricia Clay (Ken), stepdaughters Janice Payne (Dave), Ruth Jones, and Lori Hartgraves (John), as well as her sisters Doris Kaml and Gloria Jacobson, sister-in-law Linda Snydal, several nieces and nephews, and 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Dixon, parents Mr. and Mrs. Johann “Dori” Snydal, brothers Arthur and Larry Snydal, sisters Lillian Wild and Beatrice Warmoth, and stepson-in-law Greg Lloyd. Joann’s legacy will live on through her family and friends.
