On Tuesday, June 21, 2023, Joann L Steelman, age 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Medina, Ohio. Joann touched countless lives and was a constant, unwavering presence and example of God’s love and compassion in the world. Joann was a loving wife, an adoring mother, and a supportive friend. She loved to shop, dine out, have cookouts, play uno and take care of her family and friends, and brought so much joy to everyone who knew her. she showed unconditional love and acceptance, one of her countless gifts. Joann was born July 20, 1948, in Galveston, Texas, to Irene and Joseph McMahan She had Three brothers, Johnny, Donny, and Joseph Jr., and a sister, Karen (McMahan) Mohamady. Joann grew up in Galveston, Texas, and graduated from Ball High High School. Joann was predeceased by her parents, Irene and Joseph McMahan, brothers Johnny, Donny, and Joseph Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Steelman; loving daughters, Veronica Fartelly & Joann Steelman; Sons, Gary, and Jerry Steelman; loving Sister Karen (McMahan) Mohamady; Grandchildren; Destiny (Richardson) Fartelly, Nicolas Fartelly, Veronica (Trosclair) Hernandez & Angel Steelman; Great Grandson, Austin Hernandez; nieces and nephews, and many friends who remember her joy-filled, loving, compassionate spirit. Joann had many years of ongoing illnesses following her battle with cancer and radiation treatments and made the choice to donate her body to science. She had wishes of no funeral but for her family and friends to remember and celebrate her in life.
