John (Jack) Battista

Tribute

Jack is best remembered as Mr. "Hello There". That was his famous greeting to everyone. His larger-than-life personality made him one of a kind and the greatest gift to our family. He was a United States Air Force Veteran who always flew our flag with pride. His working career was in communications with the telephone company for over 30 years. Besides his family, his love was being on the beach with a surf fishing rod in his hands. In fact, "The Surf" encompassed many things in his life, especially his license plate on his Suburban. He enjoyed visiting as many lighthouses as he could, especially the Cape Hatteras, NC lighthouse where he spent many vacations through the years. He enjoyed our sports teams with as much enthusiasm and aggravation as anyone who considered themselves a true fan. Jack enjoyed cooking and baking and was known as "Mr. Goodlookin is Cookin". He was always famous for his Christmas lasagna and yummy cookies and breads. Jack also liked woodworking as a hobby. His biggest joy was making things for his family. He was also known for having every tool known to man. We could best describe him as "Just Jack ". Jack was and will always be a loving & cherished Dad, Bonus Dad, Bonus Dad-in-Law, Grandpop, Pop-Pop and Soulmate. He will always be our shining star guiding us until we meet again.
