Tribute

Joseph “Joe” Maese was born on February 28, 1958, to Mary and Miguel Maese, the youngest of three children and the beloved little brother of Michael and Mary. Joe attended Northern Arizona University, where he met the mother of his children, Donna. Together, they built a family and welcomed three children: Joe, Marie, and Freddie. Joe’s influence reached far beyond his own home. He had a deep passion for learning, a generous heart for volunteering, and a steadfast commitment to serving youth. A man of both insight and humor, Joe could turn even the simplest conversation into a moment of joy. His words encouraged, his laughter warmed, and his wisdom left a lasting mark on those he mentored. Joe’s greatest legacy lives on through his family and the lives he touched. As Scripture reminds us: “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered” (Proverbs 11:25). In the face of significant health challenges, Joe chose to serve even in his passing, selflessly donating his body to science so others might learn and benefit. His influence—both practical and deeply personal—will continue to ripple forward for generations.
