Katherine Schroeder
Tribute
On May 31, 1931, Katherine Lucille Updike was born. She was number five of her mom‘s children. She was the special one. Everybody loved Kit! She made everyone smile! Her life changed the day she placed her faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Kit was strong and tenacious. God gave her an amazing mind to write and to study God‘s word. She served God as the Pastor’s wife for over 60 years. One of the few things that made her fearful was the thought of getting dementia. She would read and not watch TV, she would talk, she would engage people because she thought if I can keep my mind clear, then I can prevent that disease. But God has given abundant grace for the part of her journey that she had hoped not to navigate. We were continually on a learning curve, and God gave grace for every day. God sustained her through scripture memory in her heart, by gospel songs, and things she put to memory. The Spirit of God worked in and through all of the struggles, and her heart was securely held by our heavenly Father. We know that God is faithful through every step, and this day we celebrate her life! Kit will be missed until we see her again in Heaven. She invested her life in sharing the hope of the gospel with anyone who would listen. Forgiveness of sin and eternal life in the presence of God!
