Tribute

Kathryn Ann Roschel, lovingly known as "Katy," passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, with the love of her life, her husband, Chuck, and their oldest daughter, Colleen, by her side. Born on May 1, 1945, Katy grew up in Fannettsburg, PA. She was the daughter of Leroy and Frances Lucille Jefferson and the older sister of Karen. She later lived in Cashtown and graduated from Chambersburg High School. While working as a secretary at Frick Company, she met Charles "Chuck" Roschel. They married on April 30, 1966, beginning a love story that spanned six decades. Chuck often said of their marriage, "If you ever saw one of us, you saw both of us." They were best friends, constant companions and each other's greatest comfort. Katy created traditions that were the heartbeat of her family. Beach vacations and Sunday dinners brought generations together around the table to laugh, play cards and make memories. Christmas was magical, with stockings thoughtfully prepared and a steadfast rule that gifts were opened one at a time so every person's excitement could be shared. Her family will remember that every visit began and ended with a hug and a kiss. Katy's greatest friendship began before she met Chuck - with her sister, Karen. The two shared a rare and beautiful bond. Weekends meant family sleepovers, Blockbuster movies, cousins sprawled across the family room floor, and sisters who hated saying goodbye. Their children grew up more like siblings than cousins. Since Karen's passing in 2021, the family has found comfort in knowing the sisters are together again. Katy had an extraordinary heart for animals. She welcomed countless pets into her home (sometimes with Chuck's approval, sometimes despite it). Whether feeding ducks at Long's Park or seagulls at the beach, she found joy in caring for every creature. Katy retired from Liberty Mutual after twenty years, but her true life's work happened outside the office. She was the family's peacemaker, always seeing the good in others. Her gentle spirit made people feel welcomed and deeply loved. As a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, she quietly lived the values she held close. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Roschel; her children, Colleen Pelsinski (Stephen), Joseph Roschel (Jennifer), and Christine Martin (Timothy); 14 beloved grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 nephews. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers of Hospice for their compassion during Katy's final days. No public funeral services will be held. A private celebration of life will be shared with immediate family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Katy's honor. While her family will miss her famous "Nanny jokes," her love of angels, warm bowls of peach oatmeal, and the traditions that made every gathering feel like home, these memories are only reflections of what mattered most. Her family was her riches. And because of her, they always will be.
