Tribute

Appa, my father, 90 years old, passed on Thursday 3rd March 2022 at 4:30am, the time he usually used to get up to practice his sadhana and yoga. He went peacefully surrounded by family. Jyoti, my sister and I were with him all night. He had signed a DNR and didn’t want any intervention and or resuscitation, no CPR, no ventilator and we respected his wish. He was taken off all medication in preparation and was allowed to move into the process of transitioning naturally. We played music for him, my mothers songs, Lyra’s (his granddaughter) renditions, old bollywood favorites of Dev Anand and chanted his favorite Sanskrit mantras. We sat by his side and remembered humorously our times together. He has donated his full body to science so there will be no funeral. And as per his wish no rituals, shraddh or religious ceremonies. He died as he lived- an example of his principles. His instructions to us were don’t be attached to my body or for that matter your own! Since childhood I realise we had been prepared for moments of letting go throughout life without any clinging. We are thankful for all your love & support, and fortunate to have all of you. Please know that as a family we are grateful for his peaceful passing. The love and gratitude we feel for him is infinite. He would want all of us to celebrate his long healthy life full of happy memories rather than mourn the inevitable.🙏🏼🧡☀️
