Tribute

Luther “Dean” Blackburn, 71, of Parkesburg, PA passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at home. Born in Marion, Virginia, he was the son of Luther F. Blackburn and Marybell Pennington Blackburn. He was the beloved husband of Kim (Chandler) Blackburn, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. Dean is survived in addition to his wife, by two daughters, Lindsay Gay (Zachary), and Ashley Blackburn. He is also survived by his four beautiful grandchildren, Madeline, Justin, Andrew, and Roe. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, a brother, David Blackburn, and 4 sisters, Christine Blackburn, Carol Dean Blackburn, Patricia Aument, and Maxine McMullen. He is also preceded in death by his best friend, Daniel L. Horne. Dean was a longtime truck driver and mechanic. He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dean had many experiences in life which allowed him to be a great storyteller. Many would describe him as a hard worker, always offering a helping hand when possible. He was kind and caring. Dean was a great husband, father, and friend. Some might even describe him as a hero. He will be greatly missed.
