Tribute

My father is/was my hero in so many ways. This tribute is very emotional in so many ways but also very heartfelt. I was raised in Mississippi by my Aunt and Uncle from the age of 2. I didn't have much of a knowledge of my father. My kids and I were traveling to New Orleans for Thanksgiving in 2007 when I made my first initial contact with my father. Since that time, we have begun spending as much time together whenever I would come home to visit my family. My father would call my Aunt (his sister) to take him to the doctor, but when the time came for the appointment, he would come up with all types of excuses to not go to his appointment. So back in September of 2023, my Aunt contacted me and explained what was going on with Dad. I told her to make him an appointment and I would do the rest. My dad was a very independent, stubborn, grouchy man. He would also call me all of that as well, but he didn't give me any fuss, because he knew he wasn't going to win the fight by refusing to go to his appointments with me. At every appointment, we fussed and argued, but at the end of the day, he received the treatment he needed. My dad meant the world to me, I did everything I knew to do to support him in anything he brought to mind. During this time, we became closer and closer. He would always tell me how sorry he was that he didn't get the chance to be in my life as I was growing up, how he missed out on my first birthday, my first date, etc. My dad will forever be my hero and for the time spent, I'll forever be grateful and thankful to God for allowing me that time with my father. My very own "ANGEL" continues to watch over me, Mr. Larry Mason.
