Tribute

We are saddened to announce the passing of Leonard Taplin, a devoted husband, loving grandfather, and cherished friend, who passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, coming to this country on the Queen Elizabeth in June of 1960, he was a man known for his kindness, strength, and gentle spirit. He became a U.S. citizen on February 14, 1974, at a ceremony at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. He shared a beautiful 58-year marriage with his beloved wife, Candace, who remains to carry on his memory, and his son, Todd Walker Taplin. Len was a field service engineer for General Electric Medical Systems for 36 years before retiring. Len had 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his daughter, Tamara Lynn Taplin. He was the youngest of five siblings of Sarah Pomphrey and Frederick W. Taplin. In earlier years, Len belonged to the Lions Club while living in Medfield, Massachusetts. The club performed pre-school eye screening for all the children coming into the Medfield Public School system. He fought with courage until the very end, showing the same resilience that defined his life. He leaves behind a large and loving family, along with many friends who will deeply miss him. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in all who knew him. 83
