Tribute

Remembering a good friend: Marilyn Starrett: There are people whose presence quietly changes a person, not with fanfare or speeches, but with simple, steadfast grace. Marilyn was one of those people. She never rushed to judgment, never hurried past someone’s pain or story. With Marilyn, you always felt seen—you mattered, your thoughts counted, and your heart had room to breathe. I can testify to this, having had countless conversations with Marilyn during our decades-plus time together at Kaiser Permanente. One of Marilyn's many characteristics was empathy. She had an extraordinary ability to see every side of a situation and to help others do the same. Marilyn was always helping others find clarity, even comfort, while rarely imposing her own view. As all who knew her would attest, Marilyn was an exceptional writer and communicator who could weave truth and tenderness into every sentence. But more than that, her brilliance shone in how she used her gifts: to connect, to uplift, to influence when needed, and to make sense of what others couldn’t quite put into words. These traits guided Marilyn's life—thoughtful, reflective, and full of care for the human spirit. She brought valuable perspective and wisdom to just about everything. Marilyn will be greatly missed and always remembered. It’s hard to imagine the world without her voice. But her legacy lives on—in every thoughtful conversation she inspired, every act of kindness she modeled, every life touched by her thoughtfulness, wisdom, and integrity. She taught us all that real strength isn’t loud; it’s kind, it listens, and it cares. What a privilege to know her. We press on. Tom Currigan Feb. 24, 2026. Marilyn wanted to donate her body to help people after she died, and Science Care gave us the opportunity to do that. We are grateful for their service
