Mary E. Doyle Martin (82 years old) peacefully passed away on February 11, 2023, surrounded by family in Sedona, AZ. Born on July 9, 1940, in Connecticut to Wilma and Gerald Doyle, Mary was the eldest of three sisters including Margaret and Kathy, growing up in Simsbury CT. Her family owned and operated the local pharmacy “Doyle Drugstore” where she worked during her young adult life. She attended Mt. St. Joseph’s Academy in West Hartford, CT, and then Newton College (MA) of the Sacred Heart. She worked as a social worker for the State of CT and there, she met and married Wayne Camillieri and had two children, John and Lisa. She was then married for 35 years to Lester Martin until his death in 2017, who owned Les Martin’s Puppy Center and Aquarium in West Hartford. During this time, she also worked in real estate in addition to helping out at the store. In 2000, Mary and Lester moved to Sedona, AZ where they lived happily for many years. Mary was a devoted friend and loving mother. She had a smile that would light up a room. She had a witty sense of humor, a spark for decorating, and was a talented cook! She loved to travel and entertain. In her youth, she was a champion slalom water skier, ranking upwards of 3rd best in Connecticut. Whether in West Hartford or in Sedona, Mary was known for always looking out for her friends and neighbors often cooking food for those struggling with illness. Mary is survived by her sister, Kay Minton and husband Dave, her son, John D. Camillieri and daughter-in-law, Aynur P. Camillieri, her daughter, Lisa C. Berasi and son-in-law, Stephen P. Berasi, and stepdaughter, Julie Floriano and husband, Ronald. She was recently predeceased by her sister Margaret Beetz and step-daughter, Jodi Burgess. In lieu of flowers, Mary consistently donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and given her affinity for animals (particularly the many dogs and cats she loved throughout her life), consider donating to an animal shelter of your choice.
