Tribute

Mary passed away on September 17, 2025. She was born in Geneva, New York, the second child of Dominic and Ruth Testa, and raised in Denison, Texas. During her 80 years, she was an exceptional family member, teacher, community leader, and world traveler. Mary resided in seven states before moving to Globe. While living in Virginia, she had a successful catering business and continued that business when her family moved to Texas. While living in Plano, Texas, she was very active in the community. She was a Board Member and President of the Plano Symphony Orchestra; received the “Woman Who Makes a Difference” Award for her outstanding contributions and talent; graduated from the Plano Citizen Police Academy, and Leadership Plano. From there, she moved to Brookline, Massachusetts, and successfully managed a bed and breakfast. When she moved to Globe, Mary earned her bachelor's degree in education at Grand Canyon University. She taught Culinary Classes, Childcare, and Reading at San Carlos High School; Culinary Arts classes, plus tutoring in Math and Reading at Liberty High School; and nutrition at Gila Pueblo. She was a Board member of the Friends of the Globe Public Library, where she assisted in fundraising and other activities. She was a member of the Tuesday Book Club and played Mexican Train weekly with her close group of friends. Mary traveled to Europe several times, Canada, Mexico, and Aruba. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael.
