Tribute

Born and raised in Chester, PA however moved to Cape Coral, FL in 2018. Newman Calhoun held many great titles: son, husband, dad, pop pop, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend! He was short in stature however everyone knew he was in the room because he was the loudest with the biggest personality. He often used the catchphrase "You know what I mean" after most of his sentences. For some reason, we always knew what he meant even when we didn't know what he means. He was a die-hard and passionate Philadelphian, routing for the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers along with Penn State Football and Villanova basketball! He served a brief time in the Coast Guard. Although he tried for a boy he was blessed with 3 beautiful girls and a wife. At one point even the dog was a girl! He realized that he met his match by working hard raising 3 girls, something that the military couldn’t even train him for. He was stubborn, hard-headed, and always required the last word. He struggled to ever win a battle with any of the girls in the house (even the dog). He worked two jobs to support his family and did his best to provide us with what we needed, not always what we wanted. Living paycheck to paycheck shows us that working hard and being a good person builds character, confidence, and integrity. While we will miss him so much we know that continuing to live this horrific life with this horrible disease of ALS is not living. We will forever miss him and he will always be the greatest man in our lives. Life will definitely not be the same but we will learn to appreciate it, be grateful, and always keep remembering him along the way. ❤️ Forever in my hearts ❤️

He was preceded in death by his mother Kezia Mary Calhoun; Survived by his wife Amy Calhoun, mother-in-law Amy Grenfell (Donald); Daughters- Kristy Stafford (Michael), Stacey Kelly (Shawn), Denise Calhoun (Joseph) Son - Toby (dog); Grandchildren - Miranda (Ryan), Zachary (Joseph), Joshua, Caitlin, Christian, Ryleigh, Ryan, Joey, Gracie, Jae'shaun; Siblings- David Calhoun, Becky Murray (Chris), Connie Peterson (Robert), Franny Calhoun; Nieces/Nephews- Lou Anzalone (Julie), Lynnette Anzalone (Dennis), Tracie Minniti (Michael), Shawn Calhoun (Tracy), Jason Peterson (Kelly), Melissa Murray (Thomas)
