Ray Donald Coleman was born in Berlin, PA, on 7/28/1940 and passed away on 3/11/2026. He grew up on a farm and followed in his parents' footsteps by working on the family farm in addition to breeding cows for Atlantic Breeders. He applied to the military and received the highest score in the county on his test, but was rejected because of a heart murmur. He married his high school sweetheart in 1963 and started a family with a son born in 1965, followed by a daughter in 1970. He helped neighboring farmers and did carpentry jobs for friends and family while running the family farm. He became a bar/hotel owner later in life and bartended until he was 80 years old. He liked playing cards with friends and family and did this weekly. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and took many trips, including cross-country trips on his motorcycle. He began losing his eyesight due to wet AMD, which took away his motorcycle riding and made cards hard to play. This was one of the reasons that he wanted to donate his body to science, because the loss of eyesight was so devastating and destroyed his quality of life. He also had psoriasis that numerous dermatologists tried to treat with no success. The itching was unbearable, and he would like a remedy for anyone who would have this same issue. He had 3 open-heart surgeries to replace a heart valve. He received a pig valve the first time, a mechanical valve the second time, and a cow valve the third time. He was a generous man who was always willing to help out anyone in need, even until the end of his life, by donating his body to Science Care to help out his fellow man. He will be missed.
