Richard Halvorson
Tribute
Richard (Dick) was born and raised in Wisconsin, the last of four siblings. His father immigrated from Norway, but his mother (also Norwegian) was born in the United States. Dick worked for years in some capacity in finance. He talked the most about his time as controller of part of the Alaskan pipeline and traveled between several offices. The saddest time of his life was the killing of his nineteen-year-old son, Steven. He loved his other son, Kevin, dearly and would visit when possible. Dick married Jeanne in 2011 and had a full life together, even though it was cut short. They traveled by road, air, and ship, enjoying the sights and meeting others. Their trip of a lifetime was the cruise along Norway, where Dick met two distant cousins. They also loved their church, where Dick played an active part, as he was able. Jesus is His Lord and Savior and now lives with him in Heaven. He also had a great love for our country and the U. S. Flag. Every time he saw a flag on a pole flying high, he would say, “There’s another flag a-flyin’.” Being from Wisconsin, Dick was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan, too. He loved bantering with good buddies. Dick will always be remembered as a loving and giving person. It was an easy decision to donate to Science Care.
