Robert (Bob) Earl MacKay, age 84, passed away on September 21, 2026. Born on October 28, 1941, in Norristown, PA, Bob was the son of the late John and Virginia MacKay and was preceded in death by his stepmother, June Hesser. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Eva MacKay; his son, Robert MacKay, Jr.; and his siblings Hugh, Barbara, Richard, Neil, Gary, Warren, and Patty. Bob is survived by his loving children: Tammy Mill (husband Kirk), Wendy MacKay, and Steven MacKay. He was a proud grandfather—affectionately known by his granddaughters as "Pooh Pa the Grand PopPop"—to Heather Mill and Rebecca Mill, and a cherished great-grandfather to Willa and Imade. He is also survived by his loving brother, Douglas MacKay, as well as the Bruehl family, including his honorary granddaughter Katrina and great-granddaughters Emmy and Felicity. A dedicated and hardworking man, Bob worked two to three jobs for most of his life until his well-earned retirement. In his later working years, one of his favorite roles was helping his late wife run her ceramic shop. Family meant everything to Bob, and alongside his wife, he warmly hosted countless family gatherings at their home on Third Avenue in Conshohocken. Bob was an avid and passionate Philadelphia sports fan, cheering loudly for the Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles. His social life was filled with good company and favorite traditions: he hosted friends to watch sports or movies three nights a week and met his best friend, Kenny, once a week for breakfast. During the Christmas season, Bob also brought immense joy to others by playing Santa for the children of family and friends—and even their furry friends, too. Known for his generous spirit, Bob loved to bake and cook for everyone around him, always finding joy in sharing his treats. Another favorite pastime of his was taking scenic drives out to Lancaster with his family, where he loved hunting for "good deals" on fresh produce—though true to form, he would always give about three-quarters of it away to others. At his core, Bob was a man who loved fiercely and cared deeply, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering devotion as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and true friend. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bob’s life on October 10, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a service at Grace Point Church, 110 Durlach Road, Ephrata, PA 17522. All are invited to stay for a luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory can be made to The American Heart Association, The Kitty Cottage in Norristown, or Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community.
