Tribute

Robert L. Schmalzer, Esq., son of Andrew and Johanna Schmalzer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died peacefully in Highlands Ranch on January 11, 2023. His life was a testament to honesty, integrity, good will and curiosity with the world around him. Bob, as he preferred to be called, lived by the quote from Meister Elkhart: “If the only prayer we ever say in our lives is ‘Thank You,’ that will be enough.” He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the University of Denver School of Law. Robert worked hard to fulfill his dreams of becoming a lawyer and was admitted to the Bar by the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado on October 4, 1966. During his career he wore many hats, residing and working in Colorado, California, Oklahoma, the United Kingdom and finally back to Colorado, where he and his wife, Marilyn settled in Highlands Ranch. Along the way, Bob always generous and found time for family, friends and neighbors regardless of their need or circumstances. Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn (née Dunne), his children Heidi O’Neil, Peter Schmalzer, and Christopher (deceased), his sister, Edna Kasun of Appleton, Wisconsin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Rest in peace, dear Bob.
