Tribute

Roy Franz Goern, 4/29/1936 - 2/7/2023. Roy was born in Chicago, Illinois to German immigrants. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He met his wife Nancy while both were students at the university. They were married for 63 years before she passed. They raised three children together in Southern California before spending their final years in the Las Vegas, Nevada area. Roy was very health conscious in his later years, but unfortunately suffered from several health conditions for which there was no cure. This frustrated him greatly. His family is grateful that Science Care was able to honor his wish to donate his body to science so he could help medical students, doctors, and researchers improve the lives of others.
