Russell O’Hara, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, in Middleton, Wisconsin. Russell was born on August 11, 1945, in Glendale, California, to Eugene Allison Nealeigh and Florence Arline Warren. He spent much of his life in California, where his voice and personality became familiar to countless listeners through his work as a radio DJ at popular Los Angeles radio stations. Broadcasting was more than a career for Russell—it was a calling. He had a natural gift for connection, storytelling, and bringing energy and comfort to others through the airwaves. Beyond radio, Russell held a lifelong fascination with aviation. Flying brought him a profound sense of joy and freedom, and one of his most treasured experiences was flying with the Blue Angels, a moment he proudly remembered and shared. Russell was a man of faith who found guidance and strength in the Bible throughout his life. His beliefs shaped his values and grounded him, especially during life’s challenges. Russell will be remembered for his voice, his passion, his faith, and the lasting impression he left on both family and friends. His life was one of curiosity, expression, and connection—and he will be deeply missed
He is survived by his children: Diana Van Cleave, Tamara O’Hara, Julianne Flesner, and Michael O’Hara, as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy.
