Tribute

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Jean Vlad, a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, friend. Born on May 09, 1952 in Cleveland, OH, Sally was the cherished daughter of Emil and Mildred Vlad and sister to Jack Vlad. After a fulfilling career as a compassionate home health aide, Sally pursued higher education with unwavering determination, culminating in the attainment of her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Kaplan University. Sally's legacy is one of selflessness and compassion. She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter Dana (Thomas) Summers, husband PJ Summers of Springfield, IL, and three adoring grandchildren, Kylee, Ava, and Landon. Sally's familial bonds extended to her cousin Helen Brostrom Soligny. Beyond her role as a devoted family woman, Sally was a fervent advocate for the less fortunate, reflecting the spirit of Luke 4:18: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free." Sally's passions included her love for animals, the acquisition of antiques and Halloween decor, a profound appreciation for music, and a steadfast devotion to her faith in Jesus. In her absence, Sally leaves a void that will be keenly felt by all who were privileged to know her.
