Steven Hernandez was my best friend, my loving husband, an amazing father, and an adored Papa. There is no amount of words to explain what Steve meant to me and his family. When Steve left to his eternal home, he left behind myself, his wife Lisa, our daughters Sarra and Trisha, and our grandchildren, Ciera, Julian, Eric, Brody, Everny, Nicolas, and Katherine. The journey of life didn't allow Steve and I to meet until our later years in 2000. At the time, I had two teenage daughters, and they didn't make it easy for him by any means. But his love for me never faltered. Once the girls realized it was true love, they adopted Steve as their dad. Steve showed them that a man could love his girls unconditionally. When our girls started having kids of their own, it was all over. His first, a granddaughter, Ciera, had him wrapped around her finger. I recall a moment when Papa, as the grandkids called him, was watching Ciera and her cousin Brody. The kids wanted to make a tent, so Papa allowed them to turn our entire living room into one huge tent of blankets, pillows, and couch cushions. After making their tent, they wanted to make Papa a snack. The delicious snack they made him, and he actually ate some, was made of bologna, hot sauce, milk, mayo, and who knows what else. I also recollect when Steve was watching his grandsons, Julian and Eric, ride their dirt bikes. He must have thought they went slow because the look on his face was priceless. Steve then stated that he had to go inside before the boys gave him a heart attack. Nevertheless, when Julian asked for a dirt bike part, he told him he'd get it for him. It didn't matter what he needed to do; if it made the grandkids happy, he did it. Life with my beloved has been a glorious adventure that is unforgettable. His empathetic soul always lent a shoulder to cry on, words of advice, and sometimes just an ear to listen. Steve is a man many will never forget. The depth of love between Steve and I is undefinable. Even though he is no longer with us on this expansion of Earth, I can still feel his love. Our daughter, Sarra, says our love is more extraordinary Epic than the movie "The Notebook." I love Steve then, now, and beyond all eternity. One day I will see my love again, waiting to take my hand into eternal happiness. Until we meet again, My Love, I love and miss you very much.
