Tribute

Summer Ortiz — an unforgettable presence. Summer left a gentle, lasting mark on everyone who knew her. She was sunshine made person: cheerful, kind, generous, and unmistakably vibrant. She lived fully and boldly, always ready for an adventure, enjoying in the coast, savoring good food, reading, socializing and celebrating holidays with wholehearted joy alongside family, her husband and children. She had a talent for making ordinary days and special occasions feel brighter and more meaningful. Born in Florida and raised in North Carolina, Summer earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. More recently she called California home, where she continued to share her warmth and energy with the people and places around her. Professionally, Summer was a devoted, passionate advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs. She went above and beyond for her clients, making a measurable, positive difference in their lives and in the community. Her work reflected her compassion and her belief that every person deserves dignity, care, and opportunity. Summer’s impact extended far beyond her daily life. Even in passing she gave another selfless gift — contributing to scientific studies that will help others and advance knowledge for the greater good. Her generosity, in life and beyond, is a true testament to her character. Her proudest and most lasting accomplishments are her two beautiful children, who carry forward her love, laughter, and the lessons she taught. Many lives were brightened by her sunshine; because of Summer, the world is better, kinder, and more hopeful. With love and gratitude, we remember Summer’s spirit, her laughter, and the countless ways she made life fuller for everyone fortunate enough to know her.
