Tribute

Tim was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He was born in Coalinga, CA and graduated from Santa Maria High School in Santa Maria, CA. Tim served in the United States Air Force. He attended Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona where he met his future wife, Susan, in their Elementary Education classes. Tim and Susan were married at Danforth Chapel on the campus of Arizona State University as proud ASU Sun Devils. After graduating from ASU, Tim and Susan's first teaching jobs were on the Hopi Indian Reservation in northeastern Arizona. Tim's next teaching job was with the Tempe Elementary School District. Then Tim and Susan sought international teaching positions in Saudi Arabia where they taught elementary school for Saudi Arabian Airlines enjoying international travel for eight rewarding years. After returning from Saudi Arabia, they opened their restaurant, Oprandy's Dining & Trading Co. in Gold Canyon, AZ. During that time, they became proud parents of their beautiful daughter, Jennifer Rose. After eight years of being restaurant owners, Tim and Susan earned excellent teaching positions with Gilbert Unified School District. Tim retired from teaching in 2013. After retirement, Tim became an amateur musician, playing the guitar, harmonica, and six-string banjo, accompanied by his wife Susan who sang with him and played percussion. They were happy and proud to form their band, Tim and Susan, and recorded many songs on their YouTube channel, Tim and Susan Hulsey. They enjoyed performing at various Open Mic venues: Tempe Center for the Arts, SoZo Coffee House in Chandler, Desert Eagle Brewing Company in Mesa, That Brewery in Pine, Vino di Sedona and Oak Creek Brewing Co. in Sedona, The Museum Club on Route 66 in Flagstaff, Jarrod's Coffee, Tea, & Gallery in Mesa, Paprika Restaurant & Music House and Sabor Natura Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Tim led a wonderful, exciting, and fulfilling life and dearly loved his wife, Susan, his beloved daughter, Jennifer Rose, and his entire family. Tim was very happy and proud to welcome his new son-in-law, DJ, into our family and was looking forward to Jennifer Rose's wedding in July 2024. We know Tim will be there with us in love and spirit on that special day and every day for the rest of our lives. After a short but challenging battle with pancreatic cancer, Tim passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Tim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially Susan and Jennifer Rose.
