Zane Dory

Zane Dory, age 92, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born September 26, 1933, near Mason City, IA, to Glen and Bethel Dory, Zane served in the Army in Germany (1953–1955) before graduating from Fresno State in 1958. A successful businessman, he rose through the ranks at Travelers Insurance Company before purchasing and building a successful agency in Newton, Iowa, in 1969, which is still in operation today. In 1998, Zane retired to Fort Collins, where he began his new career as “managing farmer” at Something from the Farm, a locally celebrated fall destination. He was a devoted outdoorsman who loved hiking, fishing, and golf. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret; children Jon, Joan, and Susan; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Service: May 5, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (SEAS) Catholic Church, Fort Collins. Reception to follow in Seton Hall.
