Science Care’s HOPE® Program is designed specifically for individuals who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness or are currently receiving hospice or palliative care. Our program offers a path forward that gives patients the chance to contribute to meaningful medical research and education while easing logistical stress for their loved ones.
This program provides one year of priority consideration for acceptance into the Science Care body donation program. By completing a medical screening and enrolling, donors and families gain the peace of mind of knowing that important arrangements are already in place.
Note: Acceptance into the HOPE® Program is based on a pre-screening medical evaluation and eligibility criteria. While we strive to honor every donor’s wish, final acceptance is determined at the time of passing.
Planning ahead can ease uncertainty during a deeply emotional time. The HOPE® Program offers:
We understand that terminal illness brings with it many tough decisions. For those who wish to make a unique and meaningful final contribution to the future of medicine, the HOPE® Program can offer a comforting sense of purpose.
If you or a loved one has received a terminal diagnosis or is currently in hospice or palliative care, and you reside in an eligible state, you can begin the screening process for the HOPE® Program. Here's how it works:
Signing up on the donor registry alone does not guarantee acceptance at the time of passing, but it is the first step. You must then complete the full HOPE® Program screening and enrollment process to receive priority consideration. If you are already registered and later become terminally ill, please contact us as soon as possible to complete the additional screening. However, we understand there are times when the passing happens suddenly, and in those instances, you would still call us right away when the passing occurs.
Every day, people choose whole-body donation to make a difference beyond their lifetime. Donors contribute to medical breakthroughs, surgical training, disease research, and the development of new treatments that benefit future generations.
If you're navigating end-of-life decisions, the Hope® Program may be an opportunity to bring clarity, peace, and purpose to this part of the journey.
